Vets Nicky Lumley BVM & S, MRCVSNicky qualified from Edinburgh University in 1991. She is from a local farming/auctioneering family, and spent many happy days as a student on work experience at Toft Lodge. Having worked in Scotland, Cheshire and New Zealand, Nicky returned to Easingwold in 1995 and has been here ever since. Nicky prides herself on being an all-round mixed veterinarian but has a special interest in dairy cattle work Nicky is married to Chris, a local farmer, and plays hockey and tennis when time allows. Norman Jackson BVM & S, MRCVS With over 40 years of veterinary experience, Norman was until earlier this year the principal of the practice and has remained with us part-time now that Nicky has taken over this role. The majority of his time is taken up with pig medicine, though, as with all of our veterinary team, he continues to perform all other areas of the clinical caseload. Norman has always supported his local community on the parish council and school governors. Paula Richardson BVSc & MRCVS Paula graduated from Massey University, New Zealand in 1999 and worked for 4 years in dairy cattle practice before venturing to the UK for 2 years. Since coming to England she has worked as a locum for a number of mixed animal practices, from Cornwall to Yorkshire. Paula will be working at Toft Lodge until she returns home in February. In her spare time Paula enjoys squash, running and simply being away from the city!
Steve Whitfield BVSc & MRCVS 
Steve graduated from Liverpool University in 1999 and has since worked solely in mixed animal practice near his home town in Dorset and on the Isle of Man. He is a keen motorcyclist and fisherman in his spare time and enjoys walking with his two dogs. Veterinary NursesKay Pickering V.N. Kay is a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse. She joined us in September 2004 when she made the move up to North Yorkshire. Kay runs regular Nurse Clinics, as well as assisting with consultations, surgical procedures, and care of in-patients, all contributing to the excellent service we endeavor to provide. Alex Clark Alex is a familiar friendly face to many of our clients. She has been with us for over 3 years now and provides vital assistance to Kay and the vets. Alex is already an experienced nurse but would like to study for the official nursing qualifications. At present she is studying for her Pre-Veterinary Nursing qualification with a view to completing her 2 year VN training and beyond. Alex cares for her own extensive menagerie in her spare time, and is the person to ask for advice on care of exotic pets. Support StaffDiane Edwards – Accounts Manager Diane is the pillar behind the scenes at Toft Lodge with many years experience in accounts and finance. She performs the vital function of keeping the business running smoothly. Diane assists Imogen with Reception duties when necessary, and is generally responsible for the accounting side of the business – all billing enquiries should be directed to Diane. Diane enjoys spending her free time with her family and 2 cats.
Imogen Walker - Receptionist Imogen joined us this year to take over Reception at Toft Lodge. Imogen is the first point of contact for our clients, and will assist with all your enquiries, or refer them to someone else if necessary. Imogen is in charge of our Reception/Waiting area, ensuring that it is kept clean and comfortable, and that all our informational displays are kept updated. Herself a keen animal owner, Imogen has personal experience of looking after everything from rabbits and guinea pigs, to sheep! Gill Dalton – Evening/Saturday Receptionist Gill came to work for Toft Lodge having run her own Shop for many years, so is experienced in most aspects of running a small business. Gill is on duty on reception during most of the evening surgeries, and also Saturday mornings. Gill and her husband enjoy spending their free time in the Lake District and walking their dog, Ellie.
Lorraine Charlton – Relief Receptionist Lorraine has worked as our full-time evening receptionist, but currently covers holidays etc as necessary. She likes to provide a friendly face and is always ready with a chat to liven up your visit to the vet. |
