Our veterinary nurses hold regular clinics to look after the general health of your pet. These clinics are all free, and aim to give you and your pets the very best care - just phone for an appointment. You are welcome to discuss any pet-related problems with our nurses, but clinics include :-
Pre-vaccination checks – all puppies and kittens brought for their 1st vaccinations will receive a nurse consultation to answer all those questions about feeding, worming, flea control, training etc. This can take as long or short a time as you wish, then the vet will give your pet a full health check and vaccination Puppy evenings – these evenings are run for puppies soon after they have completed their vaccination course, and are a great opportunity for them to socialize with other puppies. It’s also another chance for you to learn from our nurses how to give your pet the best care Junior Health Check – at around 6 to 8 months old is a good time to bring your puppy or kitten for a health check. You will probably be thinking about neutering your pet, worm and flea control will need bringing up to date, and it’s a good time to check your pet’s growth rate is correct. Large breed puppies (Labrador upwards) will benefit from a monthly weight check as they are susceptible to bone and joint problems if they grow too fast Weight control clinics – some studies have shown that around 50% of our pets are overweight. Obesity increases the likelihood of all sorts of health problems including Diabetes, heart disease and arthritis. Our nurses can design a weight control programme for your pet and help you monitor progress. We have specially designed calorie-restricted diets to help. Dental Clinics – tooth and gum disease is common in many pets, and is easily overlooked until severe disease is present. Our nurses can detect any mouth problems, and also advise you on how to prevent problems recurring. This is particularly important after veterinary dental treatment to keep the teeth and gums in good condition Childrens pets – our nurses can give your child all the information they need to care properly for their rabbit, guinea pig, hamster etc
