About Us

Toft Lodge Veterinary Centre has been the local veterinary practice in Easingwold for over 40 years. The practice began life as a small, home- run practice belonging to Rob Turnbull in the centre of Easingwold during the 1960’s. As the workload grew, however, a move to larger premises became necessary, so the current property was built on Raskelf Road, allowing the business to expand and modernise with the times.  Local farmer’s son Norman Jackson joined Rob Turnbull, and the partnership of Turnbull and Jackson was formed in 1972.  Nicky Lumley joined the practice team in 1995, and took over the business from Norman in May 2003.

Over the past 30 years Toft Lodge has continued to provide a full service to the local farming community. In the 21st century veterinary farmwork is focusing more on preventive medicine and less time is spent on ‘fire brigade’ treatment of emergencies. However, the demand for companion animal veterinary care has grown over this period, to the extent that around half of the vets’ time is now spent caring for pets.

3 vets work at Toft Lodge Veterinary Centre - Nicky Lumley, Norman Jackson and James Blanshard. They are  backed up invaluably by a dedicated team of nurses and office staff. Our nurses, Sarah Raymond and Alex Clark, also run regular nurse clinics to monitor the everyday health issues of your pets.  Here at Toft Lodge we pride ourselves on catering for all fields of veterinary work, and our small team enables us to do this in a personal and efficient manner with the latest in up to date veterinary equipment. We boast a range of state of the art facilities including brand new x-ray, an in house laboratory, new dental and ultrasound equipment, hospitalisation and isolation quarters.
